Michoacan is home and setting of one of the
world's extraordinary natural wonders: the Anual Migration of the
Monarch Butterflies. Arriving in late November and departing mid
March, millions of them travel all the way from Canada (an
equivalent distance for humans would be two-and-a-half time the
distance between the earth and the sun) to converge here in specific
forest sanctuaries located about 160 Km (96 mi) east of Morelia.
